Former Leith Primary Pupils Heads of Leith Academy

Congratulations to our wonderful former pupils Lottie, Evie, Joseph, Mhairi and Lily (L-R) who make up five out of the six members of the new Pupil Leadership Team at Leith Academy. Evie and Joseph were selected to become Head Girl and Head Boy. The pupils, who attended Leith Primary from nursery through to Primary 7, engaged with a formal application, presentation and interview process before being successfully chosen by the Academy’s Leadership Team. We are incredibly proud of them and wish them the very best of luck in their new student positions. Go Team Leith!

Letter to Parents from Amanda Hatton

New Pupil Support Officer Appointed for The Loft

We are absolutely delighted to announce that our very own Mrs Gillian Aitken was successful at interview this week and has been nominated as the preferred candidate for the post of Pupil Support Officer. Mrs Aitken will take on much of the remit that Mrs Richards had and will work mostly from our nurture base, which is affectionately known as ‘The Loft’. In addition, Mrs Aitken will work with some families to help improve school attendance and will be part of our new Attendance Support Team along with Educational Welfare Officer, Jamie Thomson and Leith Academy cluster schools’ attendance support officer.

Congratulations also goes to Mrs Cherri Stewart who will act up as our second Early Years Officer in the nursery whilst the recruitment for a new Senior Early Years officer commences.

ELOSCN Breakfast Club

A reminder that ELOSCN runs a breakfast club within our lunch hall every day from 7.30am. If you would like to apply for a space, please click on the link below.

Good News Round Up

Well done to Ruby-Ann who received a letter from the King and Queen thanking her for the good wishes she sent on their coronation. Well done to Ruth who completed the summer reading challenge at the local Leith Library. And well done to Troy, who also completed the reading challenge over the summer and did a brilliant job of litter picking this week with his friend Kieran. Keep telling us about your successes Leithers!

Names on Clothes

Please can we ask parents and carers to put their children’s names on all their school clothes. We have already had some items of clothing go missing and some other items found left around the school, none of which have names on them. Last session, we donated multiple bags of unnamed sweatshirts, jumpers, cardigans, coats and fleeces to charity or to our pre-loved rail as none had been reunited with their owners. Thank you for your support with this.

Very well done again to Primary 1 who continue to demonstrate excellent school attendance along with Primary 2 and Primary 3. The school’s overall attendance rate is 95.50% which is strong but we would like to aim for even better. Every day counts towards successful learning, wellbeing and friendships.
