Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome everyone to Leith Primary School! We are a diverse and inclusive primary school and nursery with around 330 pupils from ages two to twelve and around sixty staff. We are situation in the heart of North Leith on the edge of the historic Leith Links. There has been a school located on this site for more than four hundred years and our current main school building is over one-hundred-and-twenty years old. The nursery building and gym hall were rebuilt in 2018.

The school is a true reflection of the diverse community of Leith, welcoming pupils and their families from a wide range of cultures, beliefs and backgrounds. We recognise this as a unique feature of our school community and are proud to celebrate our differences and that together, we are all Leithers!

Our vision is: Believe. Persevere. Achieve. We aspire to be an inclusive, inspiring and caring school community where every pupil. Is valued and challenged.

Our curriculum is underpinned our values of Kindness, Perseverance and Responsibility. We offer our pupils a wide range of opportunities and contexts for learning and personal development based around the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, making links with the vibrant community around us, rich in it’s maritime heritage, wide open green spaces, creative enterprises and diverse population. We are very lucky to have all this on our doorstep. We have forged strong collaborative partnerships with a number of local agencies and groups over recent years such as The Citadel Youth Centre, The Edinburgh International Festival, Leith Community Croft, Trinity House Maritime Museum and many more. We also work closely with colleagues from Community Child Health, CAMHS, Speech & Language, Occupational Therapy, Barnardo’s, Children First, Psychological Services and others to support pupils with specific aspects of their learning and development.

On behalf of the whole Leith Primary team and pupils, welcome to our school.
