We are delighted to share the first edition of the new Parents Mind Well Roundup This quarterly newsletter shares the latest mental health news, activities and support available for children, young people, and their parents and carers in Edinburgh. All of the new Parents Mind Well support sessions will be listed in each edition. You will see in the Roundup, information about or next Parents Mind Well Sessions. These sessions have been planned in partnership with VOCAL, Health in Mind and The City of Edinburgh Council Parent and Carer Support Team. They provide an opportunity for parents and carers who are caring for a child or young person with emotional or mental health issues to meet other parents and supportive professionals in a safe and relaxed environment. Please note these sessions are for parents and carers not professionals.
- An introduction to eating disorders (Mon 10 Oct, 7pm – 8.30pm, Online). Delivered by the NHS Lothian Eating Disorder Development Team, learn about eating disorders in adolescents and gain information on the supports available. Register on VOCAL’s website.
- Family conflict – reflect and respond (Fri 11 Nov, 9.30am – 11am, Online). Delivered by Scottish Centre of Conflict Resolution. Reflect on your relationship with your pre-teen/teenager, explore triggers that can escalate difficult situations, understand how emotions drive behaviours and gain insight into managing responses to relationship conflict. - Emotional wellbeing for parents (Mon 5 Dec, 7pm – 8.30pm, Online). This session from Health in Mind and VOCAL will help you consider the impact of caring for a young person experiencing mental health difficulties on your own mental health and explore techniques which can enhance your emotional wellbeing.
